SPRING Competition Math for Middle School Level 1 (VIRTUAL)

Taught by Zoya Koza, the Competition Math for Middle school class is named after a book written by Jason Batterson. This book is one of the series of books recommended by the Art of Problem Solving (AOPs) website whose guidelines we followed when we developed ICA math curriculum for advanced math studies.

A student in this class is expected to be prepped on all problem-solving strategies that are included in our curriculum for the Art of Problem-Solving classes. This curriculum was developed based on the Challenging Word Problems series of books for grades 1-6 along with the Unleash Olympian in You bundle of books. In addition, candidates for Competition Math for Middle School class are expected to be prepped on the Prealgebra book also recommended by the AOPs site. We offer 2 courses on Prealgebra book: Prealgebra 1 and Prealgebra 2 to grades 6 -8.

The Competition Math for Middle School book can be purchased on AOPs website. The teacher in this class will provide additional middle school math competition materials such as MOEM and Math Counts competition in class and for homework.

The problems that we will solve in this class will be based on the algebra and geometry concepts taught in Prealgebra book; however, the difficulty level is higher.
